Halloween Special - Recipe - Iced Pastry Bones

Iced Pastry Bones

What else would you expect to find on the evening of Halloween but a dug-up coffin filled with iced pastry bones? This quick, easy recipe is sure to amaze your guests!

What you need:

• shortcrust pastry
• white of 1 egg
• 150 g of icing sugar
• a few drops of lemon juice

How to make it:

Knead the pastry with your hands until it is soft and malleable. To make each bone, roll out a short “snake” and four little balls of pastry. Gently press two balls on to each end of the snake to create the classic bone shape.
Place your bones on a baking tray lined with a sheet of baking parchment, then bake at 180°C for about 15 minutes. The biscuits should be nice and golden when you take them out.
While the biscuits are cooking, prepare some icing so you can make them more convincing (and tastier!).
Put the egg white, sifted icing sugar and a few drops of lemon juice in a large bowl. Beat with an electric whisk until the mixture is bright white and shiny.
Dip the biscuits in the icing and leave them to rest until the icing has hardened.
