Halloween Special - Recipe - Severed fingers

Severed fingers
These severed fingers make a monstrous treat for Halloween! Children can imagine they are actually holding the bleeding fingers of a zombie!
What you need:
• 600 g of fine, plain white flour
• 1 large egg
• 200 g of butter
• 280 g of sugar
• 50 ml of full-fat milk
• ¾ teaspoon of salt
• the zest of 1 lemon
• 2 tablespoons of strawberry or raspberry jam
• 1 sachet of baking powder (16 g)
• 10 whole almonds
How to make it:
Beat the butter with the sugar and salt until it is smooth, light and foamy. Add the egg, the milk and the finely grated lemon zest and mix together thoroughly.
Add the sifted flour and baking powder, and mix everything together until you have a uniform dough.
Wrap the dough in cling film and leave to rest for 30 minutes in the fridge.
To make each finger, take a piece of dough, press it together with your hands and roll it into a finger shape. Use a knife to score the dough crossways to make the knuckles. Make a small indentation at one end of each finger and fill with jam, then top with half an almond to make a fingernail.
Put the biscuits in a pre-heated oven and bake at 180°C for 8-10 minutes.
